Samantha Heather Mackey goes to Warren, a grad school in New England, pursuing a MFA. Her only friend is Ava, whom she lives with and the only person who seemingly understands her. There is a clique of rich, beautiful girls called The Bunnies, and Sam couldn’t be more hateful or disgusted with them. But everything changes when The Bunnies invite her to their infamous Smut Salon, where she drifts away from Ava. As she is drawn into The Bunnies’ world of sweetness and enniu, she starts to fall down a rabbit hole that is soon impossible to escape. The Bunnies invite Sam to Workshop, where they create with wondrous, sometimes disastrous results. Will Sam escape The Bunnies’ grip? Or will she fall prey to the darkness that hides within her new clique?

To say that this book was a wild ride was an understatement. I didn’t really know what to expect. Horror? Magical realism? Dark academia? This was a fever dream, a twisty, dark fairy tale, full of dark and sly humor. I loved Sam’s biting, wry voice, and I couldn’t put this book down. I devoured it in less than a week. The prose was somehow languid and sharp all at once. The pacing was breakneck; I was immediately drawn into The Bunnies and the spell they cast on Sam. The ending was not what I was expecting, either; it really threw me. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed this book, and in fact, I bought We Love You Bunny because I wanted more! This book is one of my favorites of 2025, and a perfect bookish precursor to Halloween! Mona Awad has become one of my favorite authors. Bunny is funny, fierce, and unforgettable, and I loved every crazy moment of it!
