Series: One of Us Is Lying, book one

Star Rating: 5 Out of 5 Stars

I bought a copy of this book and reviewed it.

On a seemingly normal Monday morning at Bayview High, five kids enter detention. Bronwyn, the brainy one, whose grades are perfect and is bound for Yale. Addy, the image of a perfect teen girl who has everything. Nate, who is already on probation for dealing. Cooper, the untouchable baseball star. And finally, Simon, the outcast. Only four walk out of detention. When Simon ends up dead, the Bayview Four are in the spotlight. They all have secrets to hide. Who killed Simon, and why?

I've been trying to read books from my own personal library, and I bought this book ages ago. I dug it out of storage and decided to give it a shot. I love mysteries, but a lot of the time I can guess what's going to happen within the first hundred pages. One of Us Is Lying, though, was fast paced and snappy, with multiple points of view and so many twists it gave me whiplash. It took me a little bit to get used to the different points of view, but once I got the hang of it, I could not put this book down! I was racing to get to the end of the book! I really liked all four characters, but Bronwyn was my favorite; her voice was so distinct to me. The ending--I was not expecting it at all! I'm really sad that I don't have the other two books, because the sequels sound so intriguing! The mystery was so twisty, and I loved it. One of Us is Lying is one of my favorite books of the year!
