First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones Review

Title: First Grave on the Right
Author: Darynda Jones
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Fantasy/Romance
Series: Charley Davidson, book one
Star Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
The bottom line: Hilarious, romantic, and a spine tingling mystery, I loved this novel, especially its smart-aleck heroine, Charley--more please!

Charley Davidson has never been normal. She's been able to talk to dead people as long as she could remember. Pair that with the fact that she's a grim reaper, well, you've got a pretty volatile combination. She's been having crazy hot dreams about a man who loves her so thoroughly she can't breathe, and on top of that, she's trying to work her private investigating job. When three lawyers are murdered and beg her to solve the mystery, Charley doesn't hesitate to help, even when her own life becomes at risk..

What I enjoyed:
-The hilarious narration provided by kick-ass Charley, which had me alternately laughing and cringing page after page
-Charley herself, and her unwavering personality, strong and not afraid to be herself, and damn near fearless
-Charley's significant other--Oh my God!
-Charley's family and coworkers, especially her father and Uncle Bob
-The myriad gang of dead people that follow Charley about, more family than hauntings
-The romance was both hot and romantic
-The mythology of the novel that was cool but still had a lot of questions
-The ending--I can't wait for the sequel!

What I didn't enjoy:
-At times the narration was a bit all over the place

I loved First Grave on the Right! Wonderful! Next on deck: Sweet Legacy by Tera Lynn Childs!
